    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    U.S. Marine Corps LCpl. Cayden Kay an Infantry Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, returns accurate fire during an assault on a model town during a platoon reinforcement exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, August 1, 2024. Marines are trained to return fire, take cover, and return accurate fire in order to suppress the enemy, and fortify their position to swiftly eliminate the enemy by fire and maneuver. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
