U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Marshall Hand, commander, Headquarters Company, Blount Island Command, congratulates Sgt. Nicholas King of Lawrence, Indiana, after a meritorious promotion ceremony Aug. 2 at Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island in Florida. King enlisted in 2020, continuing a household tradition—his parents and two of his siblings also served in the Marine Corps. He reenlisted last year while equipping maritime aviation support for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa. While serving as an aviation support equipment manager with Blount Island Command, he earned Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter. “I enjoy the friendships and networks you create in the Marine Corps,” said King, who plans to use college tuition assistance to study business information systems. He says the Marine Corps leads to experiences that help with making career decisions. “Even if you don’t know what you want to do, you can take your first four-year enlistment to figure it out.”
