A Soldier helps a group of children brainstorm during the “egg drop” competition portion of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Family and Child VIP Day, April 25, 2024. Their goal is to build a contraption, using only paper and tape, that will protect an egg against being broken when it is dropped from the third floor of WRAIR’s atrium. Whichever team’s contraption successfully protects the egg, and is the lightest weight, will win. The egg drop is the culminating activity for Family and Child VIP Day, which is a day of fun demonstrations and activities designed to foster understanding and appreciation of biomedical research, military customs, and the important work being done at WRAIR.
