U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Andrew C. Gainey, commanding general, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), receives a brief about the pediatric ward during his tour of San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy, July 30, 2024. This is Gainey's first visit to the hospital since taking command earlier this month.
San Bortolo is a critical pillar in the Vicenza military community's health care infrastructure. It provides services and operational hours which augment the Vicenza Health Clinic's capabilities. SETAF-AF provides U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Army Europe and Africa a dedicated headquarters to synchronize Army activities in Africa and scalable crisis response options throughout Africa and Europe.
