U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Andrew C. Gainey, commanding general, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and his wife Sophie, receive a capabilities brief on San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy, July 30, 2024. This is Gainey's first visit to the hospital since taking command earlier this month.
San Bortolo is a critical pillar in the Vicenza military community's health care infrastructure. It provides services and operational hours which augments the Vicenza Health Clinic's capabilities. SETAF-AF provides U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Army Europe and Africa a dedicated headquarters to synchronize Army activities in Africa and scalable crisis response options throughout Africa and Europe.
