U.S. service members and civilian employees with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) prepare to lift a casket during a disinterment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (NMCP), Honolulu, Hawaii, July 29, 2024. The United States suffered approximately 36,500 casualties, making up over 90 percent of non-Korean losses from the United Nations. Of those, over 7,000 personnel remain unaccounted for, representing the largest identification project within the DPAA.
