U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Justin McDougal, pall bearer and noncommission officer in charge with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), renders a salute during a disinterment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (NMCP) in Honolulu, Hawaii, July 29, 2024. The United States suffered approximately 36,500 casualties, making up over 90 percent of non-Korean losses from the United Nations. Of those, over 7,000 personnel remain unaccounted for, representing the largest identification project within the DPAA. Eight caskets were transferred to DPAA facilities for further scientific analysis and possible identification. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Edward Randolph)
