U.S. Army Sgt. Will Hertzman, Brain Trauma and Neuroprotection NCOIC, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), and U.S. Army Capt. Robert Bruce, Research Psychologist, WRAIR, stand under the Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) banner at the SOMA conference, Raleigh, North Carolina, May 16, 2024. During a SOMA poster session, Sgt. Hertzman and Capt. Bruce showed a research poster they both contributed to, as well as talked with attendees about WRAIR’s work and mission at the WRAIR booth. SOMA focuses on special operations and tactical medical care and providers, including pre-hospital, wilderness, austere, disaster, and deployed medicine. It attracts attendees from across the DoD, industry, academia, and global communities.
