U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Favour Long, a native of Imo, Nigeria, and the unit readiness coordinator (URC) for 2nd Combat Readiness Regiment, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, poses for a photo on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, July 12, 2024. Long’s superiors selected her for her dedication as the URC where she created new check-in procedures that ensure Marines and Sailors understand the resources available to them and their families after transitioning to the unit. When asked if the Marine Corps was always her goal she said, “It wasn’t originally, but after my family and I moved to America from Nigeria, I took it upon myself to be someone my family could lean on, and I felt the best way that I could do that was through the Marine Corps.” Besides being the URC, Long is also the regimental force fitness instructor and Single Marine Program coordinator. Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor that goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the qualities of an outstanding service member.
