Lt. Makenzy Jacobson, an environmental health officer assigned to the Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Unit Six (FDPMU 6) presents on the environmental health capabilities of the Navy Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine Unit 6 (NEPMU-6) to a Brunei Navy medical officer during the 2024 Rim of the Pacific Medical Symposium, June 27 to Aug. 1, at the Sharkey Theater on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
"Tyranny of Distance: Bridging the Gap" aimed to unite militaries across the RIMPAC medical community in a collaborative effort to tackle the formidable challenges of remote maritime environments. By fostering knowledge exchange, innovation, and shared expertise, the goal is to enhance the healthcare capabilities of allied naval forces. The poster presentations focused on sharing advancements in military medical care to better serve the warfighter.
Twenty-nine nations, 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces, more than 150 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC in and around the Hawaiian Islands. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
