A group of U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew members from Shepherd Field Air National Guard Base’s 167th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron discuss potential changes to their flight plan, within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, July 3, 2024. Large aircrews create redundancy in tasks for mission accomplishment, expand group expertise, and allow opportunities for breaks on long days. Diverse, inclusive crew are better able to make command decisions by gathering input throughout the rank structure and can lean on each other when flights stretch their range of capabilities, enabling rapid projection and sustainment of an effective combat force.
