Lake Okeechobee cattail herbicide management that was burned in 2023. Cattails are native plants, but grow very aggressively in high nutrient water and quickly will become a very dense monoculture and take over other native plants. It’s managed in some areas to allow for a diversity of native plants to flourish. Growth of native plants (primarily duck potato and willow in this photo) in newly opened up areas are starting to be seen.
