Miscellaneous materials are displayed at a life support investigator (LSI) station during a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recovery mission in South Korea, June 6, 2024. Various materials can be found during a recovery mission, from aircraft wreckage to miscellaneous evidence that may be incident related. DPAA LSI’s are subject matter experts on items found on or near aviators from past conflicts, working closely with scientific recovery experts to distinguish aircraft wreckage from life support evidence. There are approximately 7,400 unaccounted-for personnel from the Korean War. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Jonathan McElderry)
