This is a high-resolution orbital photograph of the Moon's surface, showing the lunar limb (horizon) against the black void of space. The image captures a heavily cratered terrain with varying crater sizes and a notable darker, smoother region consistent with a lunar mare (basaltic plain) visible in the upper right. Fiducial cross markers (reseau marks) are visible on the image, characteristic of NASA mission photography.
