    CAMP COURTNEY, OKINAWA, Japan – Mira Rapp-Hooper, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council, visited the III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) Headquarters, June 12, 2024. Ms. Rapp-Hooper is the top advisor responsible for coordinating U.S. government policy toward the Indo Pacific-Region.

    Ms. Rapp-Hooper engaged with key military leaders and personnel, including U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Roger Turner, the commanding general of III MEF. This meeting aimed to enhance collaboration and mutual understanding between the III MEF and U.S. national security officials, reflecting the broader strategic objectives of the United States in the region. Ms. Rapp-Hooper received a firsthand look at the operational capabilities and readiness of the forward-deployed Marine forces.

    The III MEF serves as a critical component of the U.S. military's presence in the Pacific, offering a globally responsive, expeditionary, and fully scalable Marine Air Ground Task Force. Capable of conducting a wide range of operations, from crisis response to combat, the III MEF plays a vital role in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
