Cpl. Reece Staats, a fixed-wing aircraft mechanic, both with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA(AW)) 224, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), performs pre-flight inspections at Andersen Air Force Base, June 12, 2024. VMFA(AW)-224, the “Fighting Bengals,” are based out of Beaufort, South Carolina and currently augment MAG-12 as a part of their Unit Deployment Program taking place during Exercise Valiant Shield. Exercises such as Valiant Shield allow the Indo-Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service and with our allies to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the Joint Force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
