The Devil Dog fountain symbolizes the spirit of the Marines who fought during World War I. The defeated Germans nicknamed the Marines Teufel Hunden, or “Devil Dog,” and the Marine Corps took their nickname with pride. The Wasp Amphibious Readiness Group-24th MEU (SOC) is conducting operations in U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations to support high-end warfighting exercises while demonstrating speed and agility in a dynamic security environment.
