U.S. Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), Sailors with the Harpers Ferry-class landing support dock ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), Wasp (WSP) Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG), and French Sailors with the Mistral-class amphibious assault ship FS Mistral (L9013) review the order of events for the 80th D-Day anniversary ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery in Normandy, France, June 4, 2024. U.S. military personnel and NATO Allies and partners are commemorating the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, widely known as D-Day. The WSP ARG-24th MEU (SOC) is conducting operations in U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations to support high-end warfighting exercises while demonstrating speed and agility operating in a dynamic security environment.
