Lt. Col. Richelle Treece, incoming commander for the Oklahoma National Guard Regional Training Institute, receives the unit's colors from Lt. Col. Phillip Hemmert, 189th RTI Regimental Commander, during an assumption of command ceremony held at the Oklahoma Regional Training Institute in Oklahoma City, Jun. 1, 2024. Treece has served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard for 13 years, while also serving others in her multiple civilian roles as a paramedic, labor and delivery surgical scrub tech, and emergency room technician. The assumption of command is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one commanding officer to another.
