David Fausz, a short-range air defense crewmember assigned to the Fires Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate at Fort Sill, Okla., reviews his map to locate the next point after the successful location of his marker during the Joint Modernization Command land navigation course training event held at Fort Bliss, Texas, May 9, 2024. U.S. Army Soldiers from across Futures and Concepts Center took part in the land navigation exercise as part of an intensive week-long training program facilitated by JMC designed to prepare them thoroughly for the forthcoming Army Futures Command Best Squad Competition scheduled to take place at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., from June 2-7, 2024. Land Navigation is the discipline of following a route through unfamiliar terrain on foot or by vehicle, using maps, a compass, and other navigation tools.
