Religious Program Specialist Seaman Reimundo Armenta, from Sacramento, California, participates in a burial at sea aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) in the Atlantic Ocean, April 27, 2024. Twenty remains were interred, including a World War II veteran and other service members who requested to be buried at sea. Porter is deployed as part of Southern Seas 2024 which seeks to enhance capability, improve interoperability, and strengthen maritime partnerships with countries throughout the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
