240508-N-MY408-1383 (May 8, 2024) TAKORADI, Ghana – Benin Navy Quartermaster 2nd Class Nwoueni Piema poses aboard Snake-class patrol ship GNS Ehwor (P 37) during a maritime interdiction exercise at Obangame Express 2024. Piema primarily conducts maritime security patrols and visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) missions as part of Benin Navy’s Commandos. During Exercise Obangame Express 2024, the 13th rendition of the exercise, partner and allied forces collaborate to enhance collective maritime law enforcement capabilities, bolster national and regional security in West Africa, and foster greater interoperability among U.S., African, and multinational partners.
