U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Fabian Alor, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear specialist, 30th Medical Brigade, marks coordinates on a map while being tested on resection and military maps during the fourth day of the Expert Soldier Badge hosted by the 21st Theater Sustainment Command at Breitenwald Range, Landstuhl, Germany, on May 9, 2024. Resection is the method of locating one’s position on a map by determining the grid azimuth to at least two well-defined locations that can be pinpointed on the map. The candidates were tasked with completing lanes that included moving under direct fire, tactical radio, camo, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear operations, resection/maps, and conducting a military report.
