Douglas Howard, military police, 18th Military Police Brigade, gets ready to test on the handheld radio during the fourth day of the Expert Soldier Badge hosted by the 21st Theater Sustainment Command at Breitenwald Range, Landstuhl, Germany, on May 9, 2024. Radios allow Soldiers to consistently send mission data and communicate with command centers and combat vehicle operators. The candidates were tasked with completing lanes that included moving under direct fire, tactical radio, camo, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear operations, resection/maps, and conducting a military report.
