Fellow members of the Order of Military Medical Merit celebrate at the induction ceremony for Major Rick Pierzina in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 1, 2024. From left, Col. Ronald Aquino, Lt. Col. Matthew Pierce, and Sgt. Maj. Oscar Moreno.

Also known as the O2M3, the prestigious order is a unique, private organization founded by the commanding general of the U.S. Army Health Services Command in April 1982 to recognize excellence and promote fellowship and esprit de corps among Army Medical Department personnel. Membership in the order denotes distinguished service, which is recognized by the senior leadership of the AMEDD.

Maj. Pierzina is the U.S. Army Reserve Readiness Liaison and Headquarters and Headquarters Company commander at MRC, P. He was recognized for introducing autonomous Level I plus care to multi-national forces, establishing the Medical Logistics Warehouse Training Center of Excellence, streamlining voluntary branch transfers for Health Services Administration officers, fostering critical international dialogues with NATO partners, and leading a vital mission during COVID-19 to recall more than 4,700 medical officers for active duty.
