    173rd Airborne Brigade

621 paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade, joined by forces from Hungary, Spain, and Italy, made a historic jump from C-17 aircraft into Sweden, NATO's newest member. This significant operation on May 7, 2024, marked Swedish history's largest joint forcible entry exercise.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
