The Secretary of the Navy environmental award for Cultural Resources Management, Large Installation was presented to the MCIPAC environmental affairs branch for their continued partnerships with local governments and boards of education, provisions of cultural resources surveys for base projects, and utilization of lidar innovations for surveying jungle areas to locate cultural sites. The Environmental Affairs branch ensures stewardship of all environmental resources under Marine Corps care on Okinawa, supporting the MCIPAC commanding general’s mission to provide training grounds for III Marine Expeditionary Force forces.
