U.S. Army Sgt. Sunny Roldan, recovery non-commissioned officer and Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) short term individual augmentee, cleans a piece of air craft wreckage during recovery operations in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, March 15, 2024. DPAA personnel and officials from the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP), combined different skill sets and techniques in order to excavate and recover material and possible remains as a Vietnam recovery team (VRT). The work the VRT completed during the recovery mission demonstrated the shared dedication between the United States and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam that makes it possible to recover personnel lost in past conflicts. There are currently 1,577 personnel missing from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Tyrae Straw)
