    SCHRIEVER SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. --Dr. Bradford Parkinson, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and former lead architect of the Global Positioning System, (GPS), visited Schriever SFB, Colorado, 22 April 2024 to speak with members of the 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2 SOPS) on the history of the GPS program. 2 SOPS performs the command and control mission for the 37-satellite GPS constellation, providing precise, three-dimensional position, navigation, and timing information to military and civilian users around the globe by operating NAVSTAR GPS, the military’s largest, and the world’s most widely-used, satellite constellation.
