SCHRIEVER SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. -- U.S. Space Force Lt Col. Robert Wray, Commander, 2nd Space Operations Squadron, hosts Dr. Bradford Parkinson, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and former lead architect of the Global Positioning System, (GPS). Dr. Parkinson visited Schriever SFB, Colorado, 22 April 2024 to speak with members of 2 SOPS on the history of the GPS program. 2 SOPS performs the command and control mission for the 37-satellite GPS constellation, providing precise, three-dimensional position, navigation, and timing information to military and civilian users around the globe by operating NAVSTAR GPS, the military’s largest, and the world’s most widely-used, satellite constellation.
