BOURNE, Mass – A Soldier from the Massachusetts National Guard competes in the surprise M4 disassembly and functions check event immediately after the 12 mile ruck event at the 2024 Best Warrior Competition at Camp Edwards, Mass, April 13, 2024.
The Best Warrior Competition is held to find the best Soldier and Non-Commisioned Officer in the state, foster competition, and inspire esprit de corps. Consisting of six known events and one surprise event, the competition tests Soldier's leadership, knowledge of basic Army skills, strength, and endurance.
Coming out on top as the state's best NCO was Sgt. 1st Class Chadwick Larter, a recruiter from the Recruiting Retention Battalion. Taking the top spot for the Soldiers was Spc. Brian Fraga, 182nd Engineer Company. They will go on to compete at the Region One Best Warrior competition in May, with the hopes of competing at the National Best Warrior Competition later this year.
