U.S. Marines with Maritime Special Purpose Force, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), prepare to board during a visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) exercise, off the coast of Morehead City, North Carolina, April 16, 2024. VBSS is part of maritime interception operations that aim to delay, disrupt, or destroy enemy forces or supplies in the maritime domain. The Purpose of COMPTUEX is to train and certify the 24th MEU’s Command Element (CE), Aviation Combat Element (ACE), and Ground Combat Element (GCE) and the Logistics Combat Element (LCE) as a capable Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) that can execute special skills operations along with the Amphibious Ready Group (ARG).
