U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Cesar Lopez, an operational contract support officer with the Regional Contracting Office, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, signs a contract for Battle Training Apparatus at the Regional Contracting Office on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, April 22, 2024. The contract allowed MCIPAC to procure a training aid known as the Battle Training Apparatus or BATRA, which is used by the Japan Ground Self Defense Force as a version of a virtual battlefield training simulation. The procurement of the BATRA system will enable the Marine Corps and the JGSDF to conduct force-on-force bilateral training and increase inoperability in joint exercises. Lopez is a native of Virginia. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Jesse Davis)
