ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 15, 2024) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Jeremiah Loyd, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), and Navy Capt. Christopher Purcell, the ship’s commanding officer, share stories during the ship’s Sailor of the Day in the ship’s pilot house, April 15, 2024. The ship’s Sailor/Marine of the Day program recognizes Sailors and Marines aboard Wasp for their hard work and contributions to the warfighting team. Wasp is underway in the Atlantic Ocean and is the flagship of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) completing Composite Unit Training Exercise under the evaluation of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 and Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG). CSG 4 and EOTG work together with Joint and Allied teammates to mentor, train, and assess ARGs and MEUs in support of U.S. and Allied economic, security, and defense interests.
