A pueo, or Hawaiian short-eared owl, fledgling rests in its nest located in the Nu’upia Ponds Wildlife Management Area, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, April 12, 2024. Pueo are endangered on the island of Oahu and conservation measures such as habitat protection, predator control, and activity monitoring are employed to maintain a healthy environment for the birds.
