Recruits with Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, undergo their First Phase Academic Testing on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., April 12, 2024. Taking place at the end of the first phase of training, all recruits are required to pass all knowledge-based assessments. Consisting of a timed 50-question multiple choice assessment, the First Phase Academic Test covers the recruits’ cognitive retention of the U.S. Marine Corps knowledge.
