Philippine Army Capt. Edwin L. Virtucio, right, a flight nurse, and U.S. Navy Lt. Reena Mei Leech, an obstetrical and medical-surgical nurse, both with the Combined Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force, conduct a medical assessment on a La Union resident during a community health engagement held before Exercise Balikatan 24 at La Union National High School in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines, April 12, 2024. The Philippine and U.S. service members were able to assist 277 La Union residents with medical and dental evaluations and lectures during the three-day CHE, increasing healthcare access and awareness. BK 24 is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.
