    U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gerald Landholt III, assistant operations officer of 12th Marine Littoral Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, greets Tetsuya Kotani, a professor at Meikai University, during Mekai University’s tour of Camp Hansen in Okinawa, Japan, April 2, 2024. Students from Meikai University, located in the Chiba Prefecture of mainland Japan, arrived at Camp Hansen to learn about 12th MLR personnel, tour major facilities of the base, and study about the political environment surrounding Okinawa. Their tour featured a brief at the III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group headquarters building and lunch at the food court with enlisted Marine personnel. Kotani is also a member of the Japanese Institute of International Affairs and studies the political environment relating to Okinawa. Landholt is a native of California.
