U. S. Army Staff Sgt. Tim Toton, a fire support noncommissioned officer assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Armored Division Artillery, evaluates U. S. Army Spc. Ricardo Lara, a fire control specialist assigned to the 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, while he operates an M2 Machine Gun as part of an weapons assessment for the Division Artillery Best Redleg Competition, April 3, 2024 at Fort Bliss, Texas. The Division Artillery Best Redleg Competition is an integral part of the Field Artillery Branch’s pursuit of excellence and their continuous efforts to enhance the overall combat effectiveness of artillery Soldiers.
The winning team will be named the 1st Armored Division's Best Redleg Team and will represent the 1st Armored Division "Old Ironsides" during the inaugural General Raymond T. Odierno Best Redleg Competition, happening at Fort Sill, Okla., the ancestral home of Field Artillery in May 2024.
