Maj. Gen. Todd Wasmund, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Reese W. Teakell, SETAF-AF command sergeant major, shake hands with U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment as part of a maintenance terrain walk, Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, April 3, 2024. The purpose of the maintenance terrain walk is for paratroopers to demonstrate competence, discipline, and field-level maintenance within the unit.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
