FORT CARSON, Colo. — Chloe and Paislee share a moment with a goat during AgFest March 28 at the Fort Carson Youth Center. More than 60 children from Fort Carson and surrounding military installations participated in the unique hands-on educational experience developed by 4-H Youth Development Extension professionals and presented by Colorado State University. AgFest uses science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities to teach elementary school-age. Students and educators participated in hands-on learning opportunities as they rotated between stations that concentrated on different scientific aspects in the science of food production. This is the first year the program was presented on Fort Carson, but the 12th year CSU’s extension specialists have offered the program around the state.
