SASEBO, Japan (March 14, 2024) The Triad of USS New Orleans (LPD 18) (Commanding Officer Captain Patrick German, Executive Officer CDR Joseph Leahy, and Command Master Chief CMDCM Brian Metzger) sit with the Triad of JS Haguro (DDG 180) (Commanding Officer Tomohiro Tomimatsu, Executive Officer Shigetomi Yusuke, and Command Master Chief CPO Kazunori Oora) in front of the JS Haguro crew following a flag exchange ceremony hosted on the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force vessel JS Haguro on March 14. New Orleans, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, is forward deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
