SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 7, 2024) – Sonar Technician 2nd Class Michelle Venegas Hernandez, from Phoenix, completes a first-responder report for a simulated casualty aboard the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Mobile (LCS 26) during a damage control drill while underway in the South China Sea, March 7. Members of the ship’s blue crew completed damage control drills to train for various at-sea emergency scenarios where Venegas Hernandez acted as the Emergency Medical Response Team leader. Mobile, part of Destroyer Squadron 7, is on a rotational deployment operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
