1st Sgt Tyree McGriff, systems administrator for the Alabama National Guard, salutes the battlefield cross of Master Sgt. Jose “Tony” Antonio Torres, during a memorial ceremony held in Florence Ala, March 9, 2024. Torres passed away Jan. 26, 2024 at home after a 17th-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Torres served in the Alabama Army National Guard for 17 years.
