Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead takes a tour of Northrop Grumman Ship Systems' Composites Center of Excellence in Gulfport, Miss. Building the fleet of the future is a top priority for Roughead. "It is vitally important that I have up-to-date, first-hand knowledge of the latest developments, technological advances and ships the shipyards have to offer. Shipbuilding is complex and the decisions I'll make regarding it are critically important to the future of the Navy. These visits will inform my decision making now and in the future," said Roughead. To further deepen his understanding, develop the Navy's relationship with industry and inform his decision making, CNO is touring every major private shipbuilding site throughout the nation.
