During World War II, Quintavell enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater as a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate and later as a Chief Petty Officer on USS LCI (L) 457 Landing Craft Infantry, LCI Flotilla Three.
