A view of the American River from just above the main spillway gates at Folsom Dam in Folsom, California, on January 30, 2024, looking south toward Folsom Lake Crossing. The road, and bridge over the river, was a necessary precursor to construction of the emergency spillway by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation so traffic could continue to cross the river without passing directly over the dam.
