Staff Sgt. Mario Leomiti, combat medic with 160th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment, 519th Hospital Center, 30th Medical Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, performs tactical combat casualty care to a simulated wounded Soldier during Arctic Serpent 2024 in Sessvollmoen, Norway, Jan. 31, 2024. The Norwegian Armed Forces Joint Medical Service hosted surgical teams and combat medics from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy Surgical Team, U.S. Marine Shock Trauma Platoon and NATO Allies, including Great Britian, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands to train in handling severe casualties from the point of injury to the operating table under cold weather conditions. Training included tactical combat casualty care, prolonged field care, damage control resuscitation and damage control surgery. Organizers stated they hoped a multinational environment enhanced the learning potential for all participants and improved the ability to work together in future operations.
