U.S. Navy general medical officer Capt. William Seagrave, with the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) medical team, applies a splint to a simulated casualty during a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel exercise aboard the USS America, in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 16, 2024. The TRAP exercise showcased advanced trauma life support capabilities and evaluated the platoon’s rapid respond and recovery tactics of downed aircraft, personnel and equipment in isolated locations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
