    A faculty member at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation speaks to his students outside the U.S. Army South headquarters building on Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Jan. 31. The students visited San Antonio to learn more about how the combatant commands located here at Fort Sam Houston (U.S. Army North and Army South) support the nations within their areas of responsibility. The WHINSEC, which is located at Fort Benning, Ga., opened its doors in 2001 and was created as a place for provide professional education and training to eligible military, law enforcement, and civilian personnel of nations of the Western Hemisphere. The school also fosters mutual knowledge, transparency, confidence, and cooperation among the participating nations and promotes democratic values, respect for human rights, and knowledge and understanding of U.S. customs and traditions.
